Meet Our Team

Laughton Sherman is the founder and CEO of Sherman & Company. With more than thirty years of investment banking experience, he has helped build and manage the firm to become one of the leading industry specialists firms. Mr. Sherman’s responsibilities include sourcing and supporting banking transactions, implementing various firm-wide client initiatives, and building relationships with key corporate clients.

Prior to founding Sherman & Company in 2004, he was the Director of Andersen’s Corporate Finance - Financial Institutions Group in New York, where he developed and headed the firm’s investment banking practice for the insurance industry.  Mr. Sherman began his career in New York in 1991 at Citibank, where he spent the first two years covering Asian Financial Institutions and ultimately transitioning to the Global Insurance Banking Group with Citicorp Securities, Inc.  At Citicorp, he managed all relationship and business development activity with multinational and domestic insurance company clients including originating, structuring and closing financing, derivatives, M&A and securitization transactions.

Mr. Sherman received a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Clemson University and an M.B.A. from the University of South Carolina.
