Meet Our Team

James McLain is responsible for originating and executing banking transactions in the hospital and health system, payer/provider technology and services, and behavioral health sectors.  

Mr. McLain has over 30 years of investment banking experience, including the last 20 years in the middle markets, where he has advised owners, boards, and management teams on mergers & acquisitions and other strategic transactions across a wide range of healthcare subsectors.

Before joining Sherman & Company, Mr. McLain held senior positions at leading investment banking firms, including FTI Capital Advisors, Coker Capital Advisors, and Brown Brothers Harriman where he led the Healthcare Services practice within the M&A Group.  He began his career as an investment banking analyst at Smith Barney.

Mr. McLain graduated cum laude with honors from Williams College and earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.  He is a CFA charterholder and holds FINRA Series 7, 63, and 79 licenses.
