John Terrando has over 20 years of investment banking experience and has focused on advising clients active in the insurance industry on mergers and acquisitions and capital raising transactions for almost all of that time. He has worked with clients in the property & casualty, life and health, and reinsurance sub-sectors. Additionally he has worked extensively with companies active in related areas such as loss adjusters, TPAs, insurance brokers, and sector technology providers.
Before joining Sherman & Company in May 2014, Mr. Terrando spent seven years with West Hill Corporate Finance, a boutique M&A advisor based in London, England, where he was responsible for originating and executing M&A and capital raising transactions for clients across the industry. While there he had a particular focus on companies active in the Lloyd's of London market, and acted on high profile and challenging acquisitions, including the $1.1 billion acquisition of Brit Insurance Plc by a consortium of private equity buyers and the $250 million acquisition of Omega Underwriting Ltd. by Canopius Group Ltd.
Prior to joining West Hill, Mr. Terrando worked for global bank HSBC, where he left as an Associate Director in the Financial Institutions Group. There he advised clients active in the financial services industry on M&A and capital raising transactions. During his time at HSBC he worked on publicly disclosed planned transactions worth over $4 billion across a range of countries.
Mr. Terrando earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and later went on to earn a Masters in Finance degree from London Business School.
